Fire Suppression and Water Mist Systems
Our fire suppression systems and advanced water mist technologies deliver fast, reliable, and low-damage fire control.
What is a fire suppression system?

A fire suppression system is designed to detect, control, and extinguish a fire before it has the chance to grow or spread. Unlike traditional sprinkler systems, which rely on large volumes of water, suppression systems use specialised agents – either clean gases or ultra-fine water mist – to extinguish a fire while minimising damage to equipment and infrastructure.
There are two main categories of fire suppression systems:
- Gas fire suppression systems – These use clean agents or inert gases that extinguish fires without leaving residue.
- Water mist fire suppression systems – These are high-efficiency systems that use micron-sized water droplets to cool, suppress, and block radiant heat.
Both options provide rapid, targeted protection for environments where downtime, data loss, or equipment damage could be critical.
Gas fire suppression systems
A gas fire suppression system uses inert gases or clean chemical agents to extinguish fires without water. When activated, the gaseous agent is released into the protected space, reducing oxygen levels or interrupting the combustion process, which puts the fire out quickly and without residue.
Some popular types of clean agents include:
- Inert gas systems, such as IG-55, IG-541, and IG-100
- NOVEC™ 1230 or FK-5-1-12, both of which are high-performing and environmentally responsible
- CO₂ fire suppression systems, particularly effective for industrial applications
- FM-200™ system, a fast-acting clean agent for electronic environments
These types of clean agents are ideal for mission-critical environments such as:
- Data centres and server rooms
- Electrical and communications rooms
- Control and monitoring rooms
- Medical equipment areas
- Archives, museums, and document storage
These gas fire suppression systems discharge cleanly, leaving no residue behind, which ensures equipment stays protected and operational, whilst reducing the risk of costly downtime or system repairs.
Water mist fire suppression systems
A water mist fire suppression system uses high-pressure nozzles to release millions of fine micro-droplets, creating a mist that suppresses fire through rapid cooling and oxygen displacement. The droplet size is key because it maximises surface area without saturating the environment.
Some key advantages of water mist technology include:
- Low water usage compared to traditional sprinklers
- Minimal collateral damage to equipment, finishes, and furnishings
- Safe for electrical environments where fine mist won’t cause harmful pooling
- Rapid cooling that prevents re-ignition
- Flexible applications across multiple industries
Common environments where you’ll typically find water mist fire suppression systems include:
- Commercial kitchens and catering facilities
- Industrial plants and manufacturing
- Plant rooms and mechanical spaces
- Healthcare facilities
- Heritage properties and listed buildings
- High-risk commercial environments
Water mist systems offer highly effective fire suppression with far less disruption or water damage, making them ideal for businesses with sensitive operations or valuable equipment.
